NSF 2004 Presidential Early Career Award

Dr. Jun Jiao, associate professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics departments, received the 2004 Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers. Dr. Jiao was given the award at a ceremony in Washington D.C. on June 13th along with 57 other researchers. Read more...

Teaching Award

Dr. Branimir Pejcinovic has been awarded the MCECS Outstanding Faculty Award for the 2004-2005 academic year. Student comments include, "[Dr. Pejcinovic] uses a hands-on approach to course work with real world projects," "[the] course is interesting and the way the instructor teaches keeps me engaged," and simply that he is, "a really good professor."

In a ceremony held June 3rd, The Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science honored 2004-2005 graduates as well as scholorship and outstanding student award winners. The record number of ECE gradutes in 2004-2005

Senior Capstone Project

Four spring graduates from the ECE department were featured in the latest issue of PNGC's Power Trends monthly newsletter. Joey Baranski, Jeremy Bynum, Andreas Greisel, and Josef Lotz worked on a Capstone project as a part of PNGC Power's Meter Data Management System. PNGC stands for Pacific Northwest Generating Cooperative and is based in Portland,OR. Read the article.

Faculty Involvement

Garry Greenwood was the General Chair for the 2004 Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC2004) June 19-23 in Portland, Oregon.

James Morris was the General Chair of the 4th International IEEE Conference on Polymers and Adhesives in Microelectronics and Photonics (Polytronic 2004) Portland, 12-15 September 2004.

Malgorzata Chrzanowska-Jeske was the Publicity Chair of the IEEE International Mixed-Signals Test Workshop (IMSTW'04) held in Portland, June 23-25, 2004.- www.ece.pdx.edu/imstw04
