High I/O-count FPGAs

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The XC2S400E and XC2S600E FPGAs deliver 410 and 514 I/Os, respectively, making them a nice fit for set-top box and broadband equipment designs. Designers can use the 400K-gate 400E and 600K-gate 600E to bridge components in set-top box designs as well as in the datapath to bridge interfaces in DSLAM and CMTS designs.

In addition to higher I/Os, the FPGAs are offered with an optional MicroBlazE 32-bit field-programmable controller. A typical FPGA housing a controller would include a soft processor core, a bus structure, a UART, a timer, an SPI interface, and UART peripherals all connected to the IBM CoreConnect bus.

Pricing: In 250,000-unit volumes, the 400E is priced at $27 while the 600E is priced at$45.
