Yao-Wen Chang



Yao-Wen Chang received the B.S. degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1988, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993 and 1996, respectively. Currently, he is Professor of the Graduate Institute of Electronics Engineering, the Graduate Institute of Electrical Engineering, and the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan. His current research interest lies in electronic design automation, with an emphasis on physical design for nanometer IC's and design for manufacturability.

Dr. Chang received four excellent teaching awards, a Best Paper Award at the 2007 VLSI Design/CAD Symposium, an award at the 2006 ACM/IEEE ISPD International Placement Contest, a Best Paper Award at ICCD-95, and nine Best Paper nominations from DAC-07, ISPD-07 (two papers), DAC-05, ASP-DAC-04, 2003 ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems , ICCAD-02, ICCD-01 , and DAC-2K. Dr. Chang is an editor of the international Journal of Information Science and Engineering. He currently serves on the ACM SIGDA Physical Design Technical Committee and has served on the technical program committees of ACM/IEEE DAC, IEEE/ACM ICCAD, ACM ISPD, IEEE/ACM ASP-DAC (topic chair), IEEE/ACM DATE, IEEE ICCD, ACM GLSVLSI, IEEE-TSA VLSI-DAT (topic chair), IEEE SOCC (topic chair), IEEE FPT (program co-chair), IEEE IECON (topic chair), IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems (APCCAS), and IEEE TENCON. He is currently an independent board director of Genesys Logic, Inc., the Chair of the EDA Consortium of the Ministry of Education, Taiwan, a member of the Board Governors of the Taiwan IC Design Society, a Review Committee Member of the National Science Council and the Ministry of Economics Affairs, Taiwan.
